Once upon a time, Dharmaraja Yudhishthira, seeing Lord Krishna pleased, asked – O Triloknath! Purushottam, the giver of opulences! Can you please suggest any such fast which gives complete opulence. By which man can enjoy various kinds of pleasures like woman, son, age, palace, elephant, horse etc. Lord Krishna said – O king! Listen, in Satyuga, when Vritrasur etc. Asuras took control of heaven, then Indra had asked a similar question to Lord Naradji. Hearing this, Naradji said – O Devraj Indra! Let me tell you such a remedy which is auspicious for all, in ancient times there was a very beautiful Apoorva city. The land there was very beautiful. There were lands and mountains adorned with different types of gems, there Kamadeva used to control the three worlds with the arrow-like sarcasm of women with beautiful fickle eyes. There was salvation. Vishwakarma was also ashamed to see his strange creation. There was a king named Mangalsen in the same city. He had two queens named Chilladevi and Choladevi. One day the king was sitting on the terrace of his palace with his beloved queen Choladevi. From there he saw a beautiful place surrounded by sea water. Seeing her, the king became elated and said to his beloved queen Choladevi – O Sumukhe! Look here, for your happiness, I will get a beautiful garden set up for the shame of Nandanvan, and the king got it planted for the pleasure of his beloved. After a few days he found the garden, the trees, the vines, the fruits, The chirping of flowers and colorful birds started showing its wonderful shade. One day a boar came in that garden like a terrible cataclysm and it destroyed all the gardens. Many garden guards were also killed. Some guards, distraught by his fear, reached the king to save his life and told the whole situation to the king. Hearing this, the king became very angry and said to his commander, go there soon and kill that terrible pig. On the orders of the king, the army went and sitting on the horse, the king also went along with him. Surrounding the garden from all sides, the king told the soldiers that if the boar will run away from the road and no guard will be able to kill him, then I will cut off his head and on one side of the garden the king himself stood with his horse. By divine yoga, the swine ran away from the side of the king. The king was very ashamed and started chasing the horse with a whip. While chasing, he was full of violent creatures like lion, tiger etc. Ghor reached the forest. There were trees of Taal, Tamal, Hintal, Shal, Arjuna Lata etc. The king started looking around at her in the forest. Later on, he came in front of the Sukar king. On seeing him, the king shot him with a spear. As soon as the spear hit the boar, the boar left his body and, taking a beautiful Gandharva body, sat in the plane and said to King Mangal Sen while going to his world – O Prithvipati! Bless you, you have saved me. Now let me tell you the story of my curse. I am a Gandharva named Chitrarath. Once Brahmaji was sitting in the group of Gods that I was singing a perfect song in seven tones with the melodious rhythms etc., that my rhythm deteriorated while singing. Enraged at this, Brahmaji cursed me to be a boar. Then on praying he said that your salvation will be from the hands of the godly King Mangalsen. Therefore I have attained my Gandharva form by leaving the inferior vagina. O king!
This fast is of Shri Mahalakshmiji. With its effect you will be the Chakravarti king. Now you go back to your capital. Naradji said – O Indra! Thus the Gandharva disappeared. King Mangalsen returned to his capital when on the way he saw a Brahmin son coming towards him with deer skin beside him. The king smiled and said to them – O Batuk! Tell me the truth, who are you among the gods, demons, Gandharvas or Rakshasas. You have come to this deep forest. Hearing this, the Brahmin son blessed the king and said, ‘Rajan, I have been born in your own country and have come here along with you. So allow me to leave as soon as possible. Lord Shri Krishna said – O Dharmaraja! On being asked like this, the king said – O Vipra! Your name will be new from today. Now you bring cold water from some lake. On the orders of the king, he made the new king sit under a beautiful tree and went on a horse in search of water. Later on, he saw colorful birds and went towards that direction. After a while he reached near the lake. This lake was very beautiful. It seemed that here is the abode of Lord Narayana. Adorned with beautiful lotus flowers, Chakravak, etc., pacifying the waves of strong wind, having sweet water, pacifying the craving of Maharishi August, It was cool and full of water. As he moved forward his horse got stuck in the mud. So he got down from the horse and started looking around the lake. Nearby he saw Mrignayani women dressed in beautiful and beautiful clothes, who were worshiping while singing with a melodious sound. Nutan went to the women with folded hands and said in a humble way – O mothers! Whom all of you are worshiping with great devotion and what is its method and what is the result, tell me the truth. Hearing Nutan’s melodious voice, she said – O Vipra! Listen with devotion with devotion. We are fasting for the same Mahalakshmi, who is famous by the names Bhagwati Maya, Prakriti and Shakti. That fast is like this. We are fasting for the same Mahalakshmi ji who is famous by the name of nature and power. That fast is like this. We are fasting for the same Mahalakshmi ji who is famous by the name of nature and power. That fast is like this.
Women telling Nutan the method of fasting-

Get it done by your king and do whatever you want to do with reverence. God said – O Yudhishthira! Thus, hearing this fast from the mouths of the women, Nutan was very happy and after bowing to them took his horse out of the mud and made him drink cold water, and after making a lotus leaf as a rosemary, took water in it and came to the king sitting on a horse. After giving water to the king, Nutan said – O king! Listen carefully to what I have come to hear from the women there today. In this way, both Nutan and the king performed that fast after narrating the whole situation. Due to the effect of this fast, the best among brahmins.
The Brahmin new and the best among the kings became the king Mangalsen. After that the king took the Brahmin along with him and went to his city riding on a horse. Hearing the king’s arrival, all the townspeople were very happy and taking gifts etc., they went to receive the king with a melody. The words of bells and alligators began to sound all around. It seemed that the whole city was dancing with joy. Sixteen adorned Gaj Gamini women also came to receive the king while singing the song. The king Brahmin Kumar, who was greeted by the townspeople, got down from the horse with Nutan and went to Queen Choldevi in his palace. Queen Choladevi got angry seeing the thread tied in the hands of the king, but hiding the anger started thinking that the king had gone to courtship with another woman on the pretext of hunting. That is why that woman has tied this string in his arm for good fortune and has sent this brahmin to see me together. So getting angry, he made Dore the king. He was thrown out of his arm. The king could not understand his act because he was telling the whole condition of the forest to the servants and ministers. At the same time a maidservant of the second queen of the king, Chiladevi, came there to see the king. He picked up that thread lying on the ground and asked that Brahmin all the details about the thread – the maid knowing the whole story went to her mistress Chiladevi and said and she also gave the king’s formula. At the same time, the queen sent Nutan to her and started observing her fast with the law. God said – O Pandunandan Yudhishthira! After a year passed, on the day of Lakshmi Puja, the king was reminded of Lakshmi Puja after seeing that huge horns started playing in the palace of Queen Chiladevi. The king did not see the thread tied in his arm and started asking Nutan. Nutan told the king the whole story of her being thrown away by Queen Choladevi. On hearing this, the king got angry and said to Queen Choladevi – Oh foolishness! Now instead of worshiping Lakshmi in your palace, I will worship Lakshmi in the palace of Queen Chiladevi. Saying this the king went to the palace of Chiladevi. Meanwhile, Lakshmiji took the form of an old lady and went to the house of Queen Choldevi to take the test.
Queen Choladevi disrespecting him said – Oh wicked! Who are you, how did you come to my house, run away from here. In this way, Lakshmi ji cursed Rani Choladevi on being insulted and said – Foolish! You have insulted me, so you become swine-faced and from today the name of this Mangalpur should be Kolapur. Then the old lady Lakshmiji walked from there to the palace of Chiladevi to take the examination, where the queen respected her greatly. Being honored by the queen, Laxmiji renounced the form of old age and assumed her Lakshmi form. Seeing this, Queen Chilladevi worshiped Laxmi ji with great love and worshiped her in various ways. May Bhagwati Lakshmi be pleased with Chilladevi and said – O Sureshwari, Kamalasan Ambe! Whichever creature observes this fast and till the moon, As long as the sun is in the sky, you keep his house full of opulence, you should always sit in his house and this story of yours along with your husband should be famous all over the earth. O Dharmaraja! After saying Bhagwati Lakshmi to the queen, she disappeared there. After that, King Mangalsen along with Queen Chiladevi fasted worship with great reverence. The wicked queen Choladevi out of jealousy started going to the palace of Queen Chiladevi, the guards sitting there stopped her from going inside because due to the curse of Lakshmi, she looked like a pig. The queen was not visible. Then she became sad and went to Maharishi Angira in the forest. Seeing this condition of his, sage Angira came to know all his things through his eyes of knowledge. Then the sage told him the reason for Lakshmi ji’s anger and himself, after asking for forgiveness from Shri Lakshmi ji for his crime, got him to worship Shri Lakshmi ji. Due to the effect of the fast, that queen again attained her beautiful form and started getting fame. After that, the king went to the same forest to play hunting, there, seeing that unique goddess in the hut of Muni Angira, with the beauty of the form, King Mangalsen said – O Maharishi! Tell me the reason for who is this woman who illuminates this forest with her beauty. After listening to the king, Maharishi Angira narrated the whole story of him and handed it over to Choladevi.
The king was pleased and came to his capital with Queen Choladevi and started enjoying various kinds of earthly pleasures along with Queen Chilladevi. Both the queens started living together with great love and serving the king. King Mangalsen, after enjoying all the pleasures of the earth, finally went to heaven and became famous by the name of Mangal Nakshatra. Naradji said – O Indra! I have told you the best of all fasts, Shri Mahalakshmi ji’s fast. The person who observes this fast will be a partaker of all the four things – Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. Therefore, you should also observe this fast so that you may get wealth, land, fame, age, fame, glory, horses, elephants, sons, grandsons and your fame may continue to spread. After bowing down to Naradji, Indra went to his world and fasted. Lord Krishna said – O Yudhishthira! Naradji has told you the best fast asked by Devraj Indra, which gives worldly and transcendental pleasures. Therefore, you should also observe this fast.
